Doncaster was widely recognised as one of the oldest and most successful fruit-growing districts in Victoria. UMMA Centre which was established in 1985 and is home to a diverse Muslim community, who began settling in Melbourne since the early 1960’s and 1970’s. Before this, the site was a uniting church which also had a kindergarten.
Over the years UMMA Centre has grown significantly and now serves as a vibrant community, reflecting its commitment to faith, education, wellbeing, and inclusivity. UMMA symbolises the successful establishment and growth of a dynamic, multicultural Islamic community in Melbourne. It has a sporting facility and also delivers programs such as Islamic classes for adults and youth, seminars, and events aimed at harmony and solidarity with the community at large.

UMMA Centre aims to Inspire, Educate and Serve the local community and to encourage others to Inspire, Educate and Serve. We aim to Inspire people to faith through Information sessions, social media, various Activities and Events, and to develop the youth to become future leaders of the community. We aim to Educate Muslims and non-Muslims, both young and old about the true teachings of Islam. We aim to encourage and facilitate the worship of Allah (Glory be to Him) and to Serve the Australian community.
